Looking For Gold

Last year, I was invited by the management of one of the companies at Indorama Eleme Petrochemical Company as a guest speaker at the staff end of year party. On arrival, I was stunned to discover that the number of expatriate staff, mostly Indians, was almost the same number as Nigerians, if not more. I began to wonder why these people would leave their countries & travel long distances to come to the same country where “things are very difficult and there are no jobs” So I asked the MD the question. His answer: We came here to look for gold which WE BELIEVE NIGERIA HAS! That was it!

Everyone is looking for the good things of life: money, good job, loving and beautiful relationships, etc.

And most times, we believe that the good things of life can be found in others and faraway places. But the truth is that the GOLD we look for is within and around us but the problem is that we DON’T BELIEVE SO!

So we seek gold in other persons, other relationships, other jobs and other careers. Meanwhile, all we need is TO DIG IN: INTO OUR IMMEDIATE CIRCUMSTANCES, TO FIND THE GOLD WE CRAVE!

Believe in what you have now: yourself (appearance, looks, etc), your job, business or career, your family & relationship. Work at it and the BEST, THE GOLD, will show forth.

Don’t throw away what you have now and seek happiness in another. WHILE YOU SEEK GOLD IN ANOTHER, SOMEONE ELSE HAS SEEN THE GOLD IN WHAT YOU REJECTED and is enjoying it!

The GOLD YOU SEEK IS WITHIN AND AROUND YOU NOW! TO GET GOLD, YOU MUST DIG!

Yes, YOU CAN!
