MY FATHER’S EMPTY SEAT!
I was close to my father while growing up. Because of my disability, I couldn’t go far from home so each time people went out, he would stay back to keep me company. He had a particular wooden seat where he usually sat and talked with me. Even in the evenings, when he wanted to rest, he would sit there. If you don’t see him on that seat in the evenings, then he was not at home. One evening, I came back from school and was going to greet him when I noticed that the seat was empty: HE WAS DEAD! From that day, that wooden chair remained empty and the part of my life that my father occupied has remained empty till date.
So many times in life, we fail to appreciate the importance of some things and people in our lives. We only come to our senses when they are gone!
Husband, appreciate your wife. If you don’t, one day, the seat she occupies in your life will be empty. Wife, your husband might be poor and annoying, but there is a seat he occupies in your affairs.
That person you despise in your relationship will be fed up one day and vacate his/her seat in your life. Then, the emptiness will make you realise what you have lost!
Don’t play with the gift and grace of God upon your life! Every grace has an EXPIRY DATE! Don’t wait until the seat where the grace of God in your life used to sit becomes EMPTY! You will seek it with tears, but the emptiness might remain FOREVER!
Value what you have! Value the one on the seat or the empty seat will remind you of YOUR LOSS ONE DAY! WHAT YOU DESPISE, ANOTHER DESIRES!
Yes, YOU CAN!
